Sail Fest 2006

Woohoo, what a party we had! If you were not there you missed a awesome 4 hours of fun and excitement. The festivities started shortly after noon even though the weather was predicted to be cloudy with a chance of rain. That did not deter the crowd of about 80 people from attending. The day was great and the wind blew nicely at 7-10 knots. People enjoyed sailing, socializing, and food. Everyone had their choice of sailing on shields, Capris, and FJs. We gave 12 packed shields rides. Evan and Jeff took people out on FJs. With the wind going strong the FJ rides were quite exciting as promised. Thanks guys for such an exciting time. The folks from the Bob Koll Sailing Foundation even took 15 people out on Blacksilver. I think they were almost pulled over for speeding in the harbor there was such nice wind ( gotta watch out for Tim and Jane :P )

Sam Kang flipped burgers at the BBQ. The grill was going all afternoon. People kept coming back for more. A big thanks to Jim, Sam, Joyce, Tom, Barbara and everyone else who helped out with the food.

Capri racing was also a blast. After a bunch of warm-up activities, we had flights of five and three races each. Jonathan and Jane were the race committee and had birds eye view. I even got John the rigger to get off his duff and race!

First Flight: 5 races
