Commodore: Wynne Kandur

Vice Commodore: Weiwei Chen

My name is Weiwei Chen. I am a Ph.D stduent from Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I was born and grew up in Shanghai, China, and I came to the states for doctorate study four years ago. I took my first sailing class two years ago in UCI, and then joined the sailing club with the Capri rating. I enjoy the breeze, lovely sea animals and beautiful views on the water. The sailing clus is a wonderful place which offers us great opportunities for practising sailing and making friend who share the same interests. I am looking forward to getting more involved with the club for any services in the coming academic year.

I am a 4th year Neurobiology Major at UCI, I have been sailing for 2 years and I first learned at UCI. I have hopes of attaining an MD/PhD in the future and I love doing research. I love to sail, surf, and snowboard. My hometown is San Diego, CA.

 

Jonathan
Shields Fleet Captain: Jonathan Weissman

Jonathan joined UCISA when he was working on his double major in Math and Physics at UCI. He quickly got excited about racing, and now races Shields and Capris year round. In addition to organizing Shields races, Jonathan volunteers helping with classes and ratings, and crews on Blacksilver. Jonathan works as a software developer, his primary project being a web application framework used to develop the user interface for an alarm monitoring product.

 

Capri Fleet Captain: Marty Mitchell

Marty has been involved with the UCISA since 1977, when our Shields were almost new. He enjoys racing, cruising, instructing and maintaining our Capri fleet. He is a UCI Electrical Engineering Alumni. Now retired, when the sun is shining and the wind is blowing, you will certainly see him down at the docks.

 

 

Howard

Night Sail Director: Howard Frantz
Howard really enjoys coordinating the night sails - especially seeing novices have their first sailing experience on a night sail under the watchful eye of our amazing skippers. Howard is relatively new to the UCI sailing club and is enjoying taking classes and learning the ropes. Howard works full time as the Director of R&D for In-N-Out Burger (he's eaten his share) and occasionally teaches at the Paul Merage School of Business.
